A Year of Mental Health
with Chris Guillebeau

What Itā€™s About

It's time for something new: a project of self-discovery.Ā

Whose project? Yours and mine.Ā

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in 2024, I'll be sharing a new post about mental health and productivity.Ā

Those are loose themes. I'll also talk about my experience with ADHD and entrepreneurship, learning to understand neurodivergence, and whatā€™s been particularly helpful for me (and what hasnā€™t).

Finally, I'll share some stories I've never told before.Ā Iā€™m not entirely sure how things will turn outā€”this series isnā€™t pre-written and will unfold in real-timeā€”but Iā€™m excited to share it with you.

Throughout 2024, writing this new series will be my most important work.

Who Is Chris Guillebeau?

A few of my accomplishments are below, but hold on: this project is NOT going to be about accomplishments. Iā€™m going to share the rest of the story.

Still, readers appreciate a good About page / who is this person? section, so here you go:

  • So far Iā€™ve written 8 books, 3 of which were worldwide bestsellers. The books have been translated into more than 30 languages, and one of my favorite things is hearing from readers around the world

  • I produce the daily podcast Side Hustle School (currently 2,500+ episodes and counting)

  • From 2002-2016 I visited every country in the world, 193/193

  • I also founded the World Domination Summit, a global gathering of awesome people held every summer for ten years in Portland, Oregon

Like I said, accomplishments are coolā€”but this series is going to be about everything that didnā€™t go well, and what I truly learned (am learning) along the way.

Expect it to be personal and candid, and look forward to tools/resources/ideas that will be helpful to you.

Subscription Options

Subscribe ā€¦ for free! Really, itā€™s okay.

I want this project to be as accessible as possible, so thereā€™s no pressure to pay. Most content will be freely available to all.

That said, thereā€™s also a paid option for those who want to support it. Weā€™re going to keep this organic, independent, and ad-freeā€”all of which is only sustainable thanks to supporters. If thatā€™s you, thank you! šŸ™

It costs less than $7/month with an annual subscription, or you can be a founding member for $150. If youā€™re able to do that, I really appreciate it!

New Posts Every M/W/F @ 7am Pacific Time

Three times a week, no exceptions. Count on it.

Some posts will be short, some longer, some will include activities and exercises that everyone can participate in. And of course, there will probably be some surprises along the way.

Read by email or directly on the site. If you prefer, you can also follow along in the Substack app:

Itā€™s the year of mental health, so does that mean youā€™re my therapist?

Great question! And it has a clear answer: absolutely not.

Iā€™m going to share my personal story for those who are interested. Hopefully there will be some things that are helpful to you along the way.

But Iā€™m not a professional (of any kind, ha) and Iā€™m certainly not your therapist or doctor. Please consult with other people (actual professionals) for clinical help.

Want to Help? Share It!

Thatā€™s the #1 thing you can do, and Iā€™m grateful. Please tell your friends and anyone else who might be interested. ā¬‡ļø

Thatā€™s pretty much it! Letā€™s hang out this year. The best is truly yet to come.
